About our Wind Chimes
We offer two classes of chimes, the symphonic chimes of Music of the Sphere and the sacred chimes from Randy Masters, scholar of sacred geometry, mathematics and music. An explanation and sample of each chime can be heard in the tables below.
Sacred Wind Chimes
Imagine yourself taking a restful walk in the woods, breathing in the fresh air and listening to how delighted the sounds of nature make you feel. The secret of this deep sense of harmony is found in the ancient mathematical science of sacred geometry - the building blocks of nature. Now you may enjoy the pleasure and relaxation of these sacred sounds right in the comfort of your own home or office.
Sacred Wind Chimes are musical instruments of attunement. The latest creation from award winning composer, recording artist and mathematical genius Randy Masters, each set of chimes is tuned to precise scientific sound frequencies. Sacred Wind Chimes are excellent tools for music therapists and sound practitioners. They can also be played like a musical instrument with one or both of the two wooden and rubber mallets included, providing hours of fun. Teachers will find them a perfect educational system for constructing melodies using nature's own creative process. Comes with two-headed mallet for optional chime play. These remarkably powerful tonal geometries deliver a profound, peaceful effect. They create excellent sonic Feng Shui, helping to clear discordant energies from the space. Notice the serenity that you, your family, your co-workers and friends feel after sounding these chimes.

Music of the Spheres
You will find the distinctions between the categories easier to make than the distinctions between windchimes within a category. The "familiar" major scales are quite similar one to the other, while the exotic scales are only somewhat similar one to the other. If you are having trouble deciding what you like, first determine the category that pleases you and focus there. Listen and watch for a tuning that seems to make the lines in your forehead relax more quickly, or one that begins to bring a sense of ease or calm. Let your mind relax and enjoy the process, it's not an intellectual exercise. And besides, there's no wrong answer.

About the Symphonic Scales
| FAMILIAR |
|
EXOTIC |
Pentatonic
One of our most popular tunings, the major Pentatonic scale is the most widely used melodic scale in the world, dating from ancient Greece. Its pattern is familiar as the black notes of the piano keyboard. The chime contains all the notes to Amazing Grace as well as The Eyes of Texas. It blends best with the Hawaiian.
Chinese
The Chinese, an inversion of the Pentatonic, is the lightest and sweetest of our scales, sure to evoke a sense of happiness. Its sweetness best complements the more serious Japanese and Balinese.
Quartal
A musical palindrome, the Quartal scale is based on intervals of fourths and fifths. Its smooth and serene sound captivated American composers, notably Aaron Copland and Paul Hindemith, in the early twentieth century. Our Basso Profundo chime uses the Quartal scale but moves the B and D an octave higher.
Westminster
Pealing the familiar tones of London's Big Ben, this chime emulates the rich harmonics of cathedral bells. To create an ensemble, add the Pentatonic or perhaps Hawaiian. |
Aquarian
An original Larry Roark composition, The Aquarian mirrors the tranquil charm of an Alpine lake or stream. Its refreshing tones mix beautifully in different sizes and also blend with the Mongolian.
Hawaiian
The Hawaiian scale is Polynesian in flavor, reminiscent of a tangy sweet & sour sauce and tropical island breezes. It combines the best of major and minor pentatonic scales. Mix Hawaiian with Pentatonic for a lovely multi-cultural effect.
Balinese
The Balinese scale recreates the magical strains of the Indonesian gamelon, at once joyous and plaintive. Balinese blends harmoniously with Chinese or Japanese.
Japanese
The distinctive tones of the Japanese scale are at once deeply soothing and provocative. Its drama complements the more light-hearted Chinese and Balinese.
Gypsy
The ancient Gypsy scale is still used widely from northern Africa to the Baltic region. Its exotic mix of piquant strains and haunting melodies blends well with the Japanese.
Whole Tone
Claude Debussy, inspired by Balinese music at the 1896 Paris Exposition, began composing with this atonal scale, used for example in his piece La Mer. Later, television's original Star Trek used it in the beaming up sequences. TV and film scores frequently feature it for underwater scenes, dream and flashback sequences. |
