Selecting & Playing a Didgeridoo

You have probably wanted to play a didgeridoo but hesitated because of the belief that they are hard to play. Circular breathing can be a little daunting but like everything, with a little instruction and practice, you can master it. You just have to try.

Free Padded Bag

All didgeridoos come with an Aboriginal padded bag. There's a strong extra wide carry strap which is folded over and triple stitched so it won't tear out and drop your didgeridoo. A drawstring is provided to keep the Didgeridoo secured inside the bag.

About Our Didgeridoos

Every didgeridoo on this site is guaranteed to be a genuine termite eaten didgeridoo handmade from wood. They are harvested and produced by Australian Aboriginal people. All didgeridoos are accurately graded for sound quality including back pressure, clarity, loudness, resonance, overtone, vocal abilities and the speed at which it can be played. The didgeridoos here are intentionally underrated their so that the quality is always better than expected.

Each didgeridoo is put through over 25 processes to ensure that it will not crack or split and comes with a 12 month warranty.

Making Our Didgeridoos

Some cutters just take a chainsaw and cut hundreds and thousands of trees to find a few hollow ones, leaving carnage behind them. An Aboriginal didjeridoo-maker like Brad walks for miles through the bush. Some say they can smell the termites, other can see from the shape of the tree, its leaves etc. which ones are well hollowed. In any case, they cut only hollow trees and take only a few here and there without destroying the forest.

A good didjeridoo maker allows the cut 'sticks' to season for a few months. The bark is then removed and the interior cleaned of the dirt. The outside is sanded and any holes are filled and sealed with a proven material that will expand and contract with the wood of the didgeridoo unlike other products commonly used such as automotive filler and fiberglass.

The whole of the inside of the didgeridoo is sealed with a minimum of three coats of sealer. The outside of the didgeridoo is protected by at least four coats of sealer and varnish. This treatment minimizes the possibility of the didgeridoo cracking or splitting. A beeswax mouthpiece can be made larger to fit your needs.

Concert Class Didgeridoos

Our medium concert class didges are as good or better than most didjes used in recordings and performances. To be classified as a didj medium concert, a didgeridoo has to rate 4 out of 5 in most sound attributes and cannot have less than a 4 in either clarity or resonance. Our didgeridoos are all Medium to High Concert Class. We guarantee that you will be thrilled with whichever didj you choose.

Beginners

For a beginners didgeridoo the best size is somewhere between 3 ½' and 5' (42"-60" / 78cm-152cm) long. Most of our didgeridoos are in this range.
